First crappie on a jig

Attachment 116270 I wanted to fish blue mountain today but with the uncertainty with the weather I decided I would stay close to home and fish clear creek. I am new to jig fishing I normally only fish minnows but I left the minnows at the bait shop and decided this would be a learning trip. I didn't get to fish long due to the rain but caught 3 crappie. The one in the picture was the only one with any size to it. A 13 inch crappie for my first jigged crappie made my trip worth it. By the way that is a black and chartreuse crappie magnet in his lip but I must say the bobber that came with it left me wondering. What are the black tubes for and how was I suppose to get the string though them once inserted into the bobber...I am sure I did something wrong! By the way I never have caught a crappie in that creek before so it must have been the jigs that made the difference.

And the bobber you put the line straight through then the black pins in both ends it just holds it to the line and allows you to easily slide it up and down by hand I usually only use 1 pin

I still remember my first jigged fish. Black and chartreuse tube. Even though my first one has continued to grow over the years since I caught it, your first one is still bigger.

Try you some Meatgetter's jigs and Southern Pro plastics . You will like jigs for ease of use ,not worrying with the trouble and expense of using live bait. Be careful cause fishing can be addictive. Congrats on your first catch on a jig.
