HB798 HD SI vs HB898 HD SI FOR SPIDER RIGGING. ADVICE NEEDED

I have 20ft Triton and going to upgrade my finders but cant afford 2 in one year.
I was thinking of getting the 798 this year with 2 mounts and transducers and use unit on console when searching and then moving
unit up front when fishing because of the easy interchangeable mounts for the HB798 SI unit.
Then next year i was going to buy HB898 SI when i save the money and put it on the front and 798 on console.
Not a lot of guys spider rig where i live so its hard to get info.
I lived in Tennesee for a couple of years where i learned to do it.
I know you guys are the experts at it down south so i figured i could ask for some help on this issue.
Any thoughts and advice on this would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Here is one heck of a deal on a 858 DI

If it was me, as I bought each of these units I would make sure and get the HD models. This gway, one Ethernet cable and u can use one ducer on the back for both units. Also, if u want u can use a ducer on ur TM for the one up front and with a menus option change u can be using the ducer on the back. To me, most important is sharing waypoints between the two. Remember, u must have the HD models to Ethernet.

Def. will get HD model. That was main reason going with 798 over 598 is ethernet capability with future 898 or 998 next year.
ALSO PLAN TO MOUNT DUCER ON tm AND STERN AS YOU SUGGEST.
Just still undecided on whether to get 898 this year and another 898 next and put up with hassle of 898 mounting style moving unit back and forth for this year until i can afford 2nd unit.

When it comes down to it, could b psychological.. If u get the 898 first I doubt if u'll get a 798 after using the 898 up front.
If u get the 798 first, I don't think u'll b satisfied with the performance at the console. Go ahead and get the 898 first, then later go for the 998. Then later when u get into pulling cranks, move the 998 to the rear and get a 1198 for the console. Just keep in mind the cost increase when connecting via Ethernet more than two units.

X2 on the moving it being a pain. Save the money on the extra mount and stuff and just wait for a deal on two good used units.

Thanks i think your right. Going with the 898 this year and either another 898 or even 998 next year.

If you get the 998 first you'll never buy the 898.buy the largest screen you can afford.I would rather have one big(1198) si/di unit than two smaller ones.

Doing as you and most others suggest. The bigger the better. Going to order 998 HD si/di online somewhere tomorrow after i check the different pricing out there.
