I looked at the sticky for running the wire up the groove of the shaft but a lot of folks are saying that the lowrance TD wire is too big.
This being true......where do you run them?!?
Went ahead and got the elite 7 for the front and the HDS gen 2 touch 9" on the console. This is the first snag I've ran into and I hope yall can help!
Used wire tie on the shaft at the top and bottom above motor head. U must create a loop with second wire tie for cable to slide freely. leave enough free cable for motor head to turn each direction
Havent looked into it but couldnt you take a rotor bit and make the groove a litle bigger to accomadate the bigger transducer cord? This was my intensions but have desided to use a staight sonar on the front.
Dwight, that's what I was going to do if no one had a better idea.
Rees, I think I'd be scared to do that. Might weaken the shaft. Has anyone done this?
I put a HB on my Terrova as the TD wire on the HB's is a bit thinner than the Lowrance TD wire and was able to run the wire down the grove in the Terrova's shaft and it clears the locking collar and all, resulting in a nice clean install. I had a Lowrance on the Terrova and did not like the loose wire, if not extra careful, you will probably end up breaking the TD wire when the TM spins from normal use.
You could try cutting a small groove or notch in the locking collar to allow the thicker Lowrance wire thru but not sure if the locking collar is thick enough to do this.
I have been using this way for 2 years with no issues.
