HB color FF
Does the HB show different color arches for different fish? Does the height of the arches mean the speed of which the fish is moving? I just watched a video where the guy was talking about his Lowrance FF and the different arches/color mean different things. I prefer HB, so that's why I'm asking. I couldn't find anything in the description of the HB FF where it says this info. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I could if all of the conditions were right and the fish cooperated. The color of the returned sonar signal is based on the amount of sonar that reflected off of the fish. The larger and more dense the fish (from the transducers viewpoint, not from the side) the more sonar gets reflected back to the transducer. The area of the sonar beam that the fish passes through can also influence the amount of sonar that gets reflected back as can several other factors.
That being said, I have been on board boats several times where the boat Captain/operator correctly identified the species of fish that we saw on the sonar. This was confirmed by the fish being caught. They were able to do so based on the sonar returns they saw on the sonar and due to their knowledge and experience fishing for those species of fish.

I fish out of a Hobie Kayak and I've heard from others that the DI won't work if the transducer is inside my hull. I've heard also if you purchase a HB FF, that you can contact HB and they will send you the scupper transducer in return for the original transducer that came with the purchased FF. Would both of these be correct?

I've heard that the DI transducer will work inside the hull of some plastic kayaks. We even have a video on the Humminbird YouTube channel that shows the installation of such.
You would have to call Humminbird (1-800-633-1468) about the transducer exchange.
