Spider rigging--where to put the sinker???

OK guys,
I need some advice.

I am just starting out spider rigging and I am seeing people adding their sinkers two ways. First is to put the sinker at the bottom of the fishing line with the hook(s) attached above the sinker. The second, is to put the sinker about 18" above the bottom of the line and one hook at the end of the line and another hook above the sinker.

What I would like to hear from everyone is where do you attach your sinker and hooks and why you prefer that method. I am sure there are other methods, than those I have mentioned so please feel free to answer with those thoughts as well.

either way should work fine. I put my sinker on the bottom to use as a bottom finder, when it hits bottom I crank up about 2 turns. Some people like to let the bottom jig just kind of float around and put their weight in the middle of the 2.

Try it both ways and decide what's best for you.

I use the weight between the hooks. Just simpler to tie for me. I can't tie a good "dropper loop" for the life of me, and I have learned to tie the C&C rig with one piece of line and a single swivel.....

Bottom

I do both and alot of times only run one hook below the lead.

Lots of brush in the lakes I fish and the weight on bottom (bell sinker) acts as a "feeler" for me. Also it will gradually pull down a pole letting you know there's brush there so by gentley lifting and lowering the pole you get the weight free without breaking off. Lots of guys will add two hooks above the weight but I've found out that if theyre biting one hook does as good as two, and costs you WAY LESS in minners.:)

we have had the best success with the sinker being at the end of the line in our rigs.

Both ways for me.... when im trolling with jigs the weight is on the bottom and if im using minnows then it in between my hooks
