Question on Pulling Cranks

Just thinking about pulling cranks and was wondering what the slowest speed anyone has pulled Bandit crankbaits and caught Crappie? I usually start around 1.5MPH but was wondering what the lowest range that the lures still work for colder weather.

I've never had luck below 1.5. Baits don't wobble right for me below that. But I know major can catch them in 50 degree water with cranks

Cranking works best in warmer weather......major did win a tourney one year in Feb pulling cranks though. I have caught them at 1.2 mph but normally betwee. 1.5 and 1.8 mph

After you do it a little while you can watch your tips and be close to what speed you want by what your tips are doing. If they are doing kinda a slow continuous wobble. Then you are going to slow. What I used to have to do before I got a GPS

I have caught them at .9 in the Summer when the water is over 70 degrees but right now the water is in the low 50's so it's minner time!!!

Ain't had much luck below 1 mph. 2 mph and up is my best speed. But that's my boat my poles my line and my crank baits and also my line length. Every set up is different and all these factors do count. Trial and error is going to be your best answer with each one of these factors.

I go by the Bandit trolling chart and set my line length for the depth that I want according to it on my line couner reels.

I've had my best luck at 1.5 - 1.8mph. Set your speed and say 1.5 and make some shallow turns, this will make the baits on the outside speed up a little and the ones on the inside slow down. You might pick up a trend if they hit on one side better that the other.

Yeah I like to drive the boat like iam drunk works everytime. Especially when the bites slowing down.
