Just mounted the new HB SI transducer and after following all factory instructions there is some play. The top bolt will not squeeze the metal bracket enough to eliminate a sizable amount of play. I hope this
makes since. Anybody know if this is normal or is something wrong?
I dont have one (yet) but if its like their others there should have been a couple of spacers/washers in the box.
Its right, It should move up or down maybe 3/8 in. Its the kick up feature
if no extra washers in the box, just go to the hardware store and get some of the same size as what you have and add one or two.
It looked more like the Flip Flop feature.

Just wanted to know if it is normal. Never had a loose transducer on any boat before. Will add a washer but just can't believe it was suppose to be that way.
Just something about a loose transducer and the instructions saying install an in line fuse in the power cable (NOT INCLUDED) in a unit that cost retail close to 3 grand. Silly me. Just trying to adjust to the change from the "other" brand.
I think what HB was trying to accomplish with this "loose" installation procedure was to protect the customer from very expensive Xducer replacement ....Quote:

Be forewarned... If you add spacers and tighten the "play" out of the "kickup" feature...the warranty is being voided...
Now, would HB still take care of a broken Xducer from an impact..?? ..probably....but they wouldn't have to...

I purchased and installed a HB 998c si in December and had the same question regarding the "loose" transducer. Decided to install it per the instructions and it seems to work just fine. Agree with some comments above that using washers to make it rigid could be the wrong thing to do......I've already hit something with mine and had it kick up as designed. Just my :twocents worth!!
It works great the way it is I wondered when I installed mine but it will be fine. It kicks up very well also I fish lake conway all the time and it is very stumpy I was worried about it for a few trips but don't any more it kicks up just like it should!
