Tankless water heaters - instant hot water on demand
No need to heat hot water. It's actually a cold water heater!!! Tankless water heaters are OK, I've installed several lately. They are fairly limited on size depending on how many points they will service. If it were me, I would go with a natural gas or propane model as the electric units use A BUNCH of amperage.
The tankless are awesome products from what I understand. Cost is high on front end but will make up the savings on utility bill within 3-4 years. When one of tanks goes out, I am replacing all 3 with tankless.
Seem to me the expansion tank would be used to maintain or normalize the pressure in a closed system? I'm not a plumber, but I did sleep 8 hours last night...:Rofl
we have one and wish we had never seen one . we have had to have it worked on about 4 times in seven yrs . the water system has a lot of issues with dirty water (not fault of tank). we were told to cover the vent leaving 18 inches above exit . they then said the rusting of internal parts was due to improper venting and to remove the hood . we recently added a drain to take care of rain/condensation . the cost of repairs has offset any/all savings as far as i can tell . we have a regular tank in the other part of the house . no problems . ours is gas and repairs are high .
I have experienced pros and cons on the tankless heaters, the people that complain usually went with a cheaper newer version. Most of the people I know that kicked the buck and got the Renai have been very happy with them. Think I spelled that rite but anyway they are expensive but they are good. And I agree about the electric ones, heard of alot of people having trouble out of them.
