Why me! Why me!
A couple of years ago on one of our Minneapolis fishing docks, an oriental boy maybe 8 or 9 was fishing bluegills, when all of a sudden up out of the depths came a full sized muskie with mouth open and grabbed the bluegill he was about to lift out of the water. The kid jumped back off the rail a full 8 feet up against the railing on the other side of the dock yelling, "Why me! Why me!" When that happens all you see is that big old mouth opened wide and all those teeth coming right at you.

could have been like the kid sitting on the end of the dock splashing his feet in and out of the water while unknown to him, the theme to "JAWS" starts playing...

What is really amazing is that full sized muskies will take crappie sized jigs down to 1/32 oz and smaller, very often with little more than a tap, too. You set the hook and the bottom moves. They are fearless around here, showing themselves quite frequently. We average seeing them close to once an outing (outings are seldom over 3 or 4 hours) when fishing crappies on waters stocked with muskies. That generally includes some that run close to or over 50" every year. Muskie cutoffs are one of the biggest, if not the biggest cause for the jigs we lose, but we manage to land a couple or three every year with the biggest so far being over 40". UL and 4# test ... They are not the strongest fish in the water, although they have the biggest and sharpest teeth of anything around here. This past year they were few and far between however, but the upside is that my buddy and I had the best open water seasons of our lives on pike, bass and walleyes, as bonuses in our crappie fishing as well as the biggest slabs, too. I will take that any day over a stocked muskie.

watched the "Animal Planet " show about the lower jaw found in Wis or Minn in the 90`s. said going by the size of this dried out jaw the musky it came from likely was 75" long at least. DUDE that is 6+ FOOT long fish. the remarkable thing was the teeth were still VERY sharp!
