Lurkers Beware

Well from time to time some of us get surprised by lurkers. Ya show up at a lake or body water and ask someone how the fish are biting and the answer is "....... was wearing em out yesterday here" lol when they are talking to that person lmbo. Another is "hey i saw your pix on the internet here, you are ....". Well for you lurkers seeking a fishing report i challenge you to post your results and become a contributing member of the forum instead of just seeking a fishing report!!! Makes the members that fish regularly hesitant about posting there results!!! Get to know fellow members instead of leaching from us!! It is nice to pick up the phone and call a buddy that lives close to te water you fish and say hey how are the fish biting is it worth the drive?? Doesnt matter if you catch one fish or ten or a limit every time, contribute to the site!!

You get em ABH, there is a lot of truth to that statement. That is the main reason I will not post about my fishing trips which have been awesome this past 3 months. It's more than obvious when you go fishing one day and see 3 boats where your were fishing, then you post about your success, and go back to the same spot the next day and there is 30 boat there, it's obvious it's lurker looking for a fishing report to cash in on. That is what has happened to gold creek on Conway.

Hey guys. I've been a 'member' here for years, and I guess I'm a 'lurker' mostly. BUT, I have tried to post stuff here and haven't had much success with responses. I'm pretty light hearted and try to add some humor to everything, and maybe that has been a turnoff, I don't know. I've PM'ed a few guys and gotten answers, but usually pretty terse.

I'm a long time active member of three other chat sites, mostly hunting ones, and I participate heavily in them. I'm retarded (retired) so I don't always have time every day to check here, but I do check here. I'm not looking too much for fishing reports, per se, just general info and I enjoy reading all y'all's comments about fishing. I figured out that I don't fish the way most of you do..........I'm a one pole, minnow fisherman. I don't know why, but I love doing it that way. I like results, sure. But I get semi-decent results that way and I enjoy it. That cork is therapy to me, and I've had enough problems that I need therapy. :) But I do enjoy learning new things and would do it any way that worked if I knew how.

I've actually met Nimrod at Fowler's Cafe (my favorite place for breakfast when at Nimrod), though he won't remember, and I've fished Nimrod for many years......but I still just know a few spots there. It's my favorite lake (so long as it produces!!). But I need to find closer ones that produce also.

Had some health problems last year but hopefully will be on the water more this year (if we don't have the traditional spring floods, I hate high water and wind!), and I'll be happy to share my success and failure here. But I don't want to force my way into a closed group of guys that get along with each other well, it appears. I get rather opinionated many times, and that turns folks off. I'll try not to do that.

And I probably wouldn't have posted all this, but this post sort of drew it out of me.

I wish Slab had gone through with the idea to lock state forums to those not signed in. Really not fair to all those who post to broadcast all our info to the world. I plan to reduce my info to outsiders or lurkers as some call them. Welcome everyone to the site who sign up. But remember there are lots of people who are here just to find out where to fish that contribute nothing to this forum. I see folks all the time at the ramps who know who we are and all the reports but say they never signed up.

Nice post buckrub. I understand how you feel. There's a pretty good group of guys here but at times the board does seen divided. I haven't been able to do as much fishing as I'd liked to of this past year so my contributions to the board have been few and far between. I fish different waters than 99% of these guys so my reports don't usually help much of anybody anyway. I probably won't be able to help you on your home lake if you ever have a question shoot me a pm. Ill be more than happy to try and help. Maybe I should post detailed reports so I can get some potlickers or lurkers as they are called by the op to come out. It would be nice to fish with some different guys from the board and learn new and different techniques. Anyway that's my 2 cents and even though sometimes navigating the board and cliques seems like a mine field, all in all we have the best board on the site I'm my opinion. Just alot of different personalities to learn.

Don' take it personally, ABH is just venting a little... probably been talking to his duck hunting buddies who won't give a true report, yet he is willing to give up any and all details. And that is how it should be. He is a good guy. Most everybody here are good folks.

That, I believe. And I don't mind sharing my info, though I doubt any of you would need it. And I am registered, and don't mind giving info in order to post.

Anyway, holler if I can help anyone. Lots of guys at other sites wish I WOULD shut up most of the time. :)

I get both sides of this thread....I lurked for a long time....just trying to learn what I could about techniques and such. Went to Nimrod last year early summer and posted what I had did to catch a good amount of fish for me and quickly got a reply back from Nimrod that I thought was terse.....well come forward 9 months....I have learned a thing or two....remembered some things I read a off this site and have managed to catch a few limits here lately. Met Nimord and some of the other guys from the board and everyone of them has been true gentlemen..........And those terse words (in hindsight direct comments) were good advice upon reflection.....

Not sure what the solution is...but I read each posting a couple of times a day to make sure I don't miss anything.
