Finding Fish Number 20/Conway 1-25-13
With 19 in the box...Finding my 20th was a test of will between myself and the crappie. I have had this happen before and lost the battle of the 20th. The 20th can be at times the toughest darn fish you ever had to catch. It's almost as the fish knows he is the 20th or the limit fish and he won't give up that limit bite easy. I told myself I would not be denied that 20th fish today. After catching numbers 18 & 19 right before dark I thought I might close the deal before dark. Boy!!! was I wrong... and #20 quickly became a game of hide and seek as I tried every trick in CP's book to put fish #20 in the boat. Trying this... trying that...Tackel being scttered everywhere...the battle raged on for 1 1/2 hours after dark...with only two 9 inchers caught in that time I refused to let my limit be finished by a 9 incher. Finally at 7:30 PM as I pulled up beside a dock in the dark #20 gave up the ghost, I was seeking with an arm jolting thump and a beautiful 15 inch Black Crappie crossed the bow of my boat to finish off my trip. I just wonder If there are any other crappie.com members who will fight tooth and nail to get that limit fish when they are one fish away. I know I do. Tight Lines Guys.
