Question on thread size
I'm sure this has been asked before but can someone give me an idea of what size thread in the "aught" sizes (ie 2/0 or 6/0) most closely compares to the 210 dernier thread? I'm comfortable with the 210 dernier thread but some of the other companies have some different colors I'd like to try. Also, am I correct in understanding that 6/0 is smaller than 2/0 thread?

I have not seen 2/0 but that is alot closer to 210 denier than 6/0. you are right about the 6/0 being on the weaker end of the spectrum. I have tried some threads that are very strong for their size, I am thinking it was flymaster plus in 140 denier. I stay with 140 and 210 denier for jigs, and the size of the jig determines which one I use, it's 140 most the time. now I like 6/0 flymaster plus for jigs that I don't want a thick buildup of thread.

I don't like the brand that uses the 6/0 method of measuring thread. I do use a couple colors in 6/0 because I can't get that color in Danville or Ultra thread which are my favorites as far as thread goes. Don't think it gets better than these 2 threads! So get some thread that uses the denier size for their thread and get flat waxed! 210 amd 140 are the best for jigs, but flies are different and many times you need much thinner thread.

I've tried lots of threads and while I'm really likeing the 210 denier I still use alot of the Uni 6/0 and don't have any problems with it, probably because I know how much tension I can use with it due to tying flies. I've been looking at the Pacific Bay metallic threads but they'res not alot listed about what denier they are, if anyone has this info please post!!!!!!
I'm still waiting for them to email me!!!
