Double Limit Day on Dardanelle with Crappie Pro
Headed out to Lake Dardanelle today with Old Crappie Pro, not in too much of a hurry because it was 23 degrees. Launched the Dark Angel and headed to a spot CP was pretty sure we could catch some fish and put out 6 double minnow rigs and started catching fish right away. The morning bite was slow but steady and we started putting nice size fish in the box. The highlight of the morning was CP landing what we guessed was a 15 lb+ drum on a 14 foot trolling pole rigged with 6 lb. test line! Took him about 15 minutes to get him to the top of the water and in the boat for a photo. See below. The bite picked up mid day and we steady were putting fish in the box. Caught many small Kentuckys, a couple of keepers, and a couple of nice whisker fish. We literally stayed "in the trenches" all afternoon with a steady bite. No big fish, just good fish. Right before we were needing to leave, we needed three crappie to finish out a double limit and wham! wham! wham! I caught one and CP caught two at the same time on one pole, which made a smooth 40 fish! Headed in about sundown after a great day on the water with a live box full! Russ, I thank you for a great day on the water, my friend, and I hope we can do it again!
