Lowrance Elite 5 DSI on Monroe,Dora, others

Hi All,
Just getting back into Crappie fishing the Central Florida area. I see a lot and have read a lot about the Lorance Elite 5 DSI unit. I am still not quite sure on if I should buy this one or stick to a 2d unit. On lakes like Monroe, Dora, Crescent has anyone used these units and have they worked good in some of these shallow water lakes? Thanks for your input.
BTW, went to Monroe on New Year’s Eve and could not get away from the 1lb to 1 ½lb shad. Must have caught 15 or so in a few hours. Caught only 4 Crappie and put 2 back that were way so small.

No, have not used that unit, but the hds 7 is good, so i imagine it would be. I have used lowrance for 21 years on those lakes as they are in my backyard.

The hds 7 is a 2d unit I am thinking. I was wondering if people are happy with the DI units on water that is in the 2 to 12 foot range. If it shows to much noise in shallow water I may need to go the 2d route.

I think the noise in shallow water would start occurring in 2 ft or less it is much better in shallow water than the Bird.I'm really happy with mine. I am s o have an older elite on the front till I can afford another He let me know what u do as I'm looking for another boat with the 7 to put mine on to see what my noise lines are

I did some more research and found some screen shots of the DSI’s in 5 to 12 foot of water and they looked very good. I think I am going to purchase this model soon.
