My and Skylar squirrel hunt Dec 22 2012
The weatherman was calling for high winds so we decided not to deer hunt and came home from the hunting house. So she wanted to take her 1/2 Jack Russell and 1/2 Mountain Fiest named Jack squirrel hunting so she could eat some squirrel. We took a short hunt right around the house and Jack treed two in short order. Skylar shot them out, and got the skinning knife out. In short order they were cleaned, washed and soaking in milk in the refrigerator. This morning she decided she wanted some squirrel for breakfast so she started cooking. She rolled about half of the squirrels in pepper flour and put them in an old WAPAK #9 cast iron skillet with an ERIE ghost on it. When she got done with that, I told her how to make squirrel gravy and it turned out pretty darn good. So far this deer hunting season about all I have had to be was be there, Skylar takes care of everything. She can keep up with me skinning deer, plus skins her own deer, she just can't handle the sawzall yet. If she could sawzall I could just sit back and help her when she needed it. I dread it when some young man takes her away from me in a few years, she is a great hunting partner.
