Taking Jig pics (or any other small items)

I actually got mine for coin pics (I also Metal Detect), but I could not take a decent close-up to save my life, until someone posted this:

Sorry I didn't have any Jig pics to post (lol, not that I'd want anyone getting that good of a look at them), but this will at least give an idea of the quality of pics it takes (hands free) in the event anyone might be interested.

I just use my camera set on Macro and it has enough pixels that after I crop it and reduce it's size for the internet they do fine. Never used something like that and don't really think I need that. I can get my camera pretty darn close and still get a clear shot. I can't imagine this thing and how large is the picture from it?

Looks like it does a good job, but to make my question more clear, how large of an object can you photograph with it?

My camera I think is like 8MP.

I know you can take good pics skip, lol all of us aren't so lucky. I tried everything I could short of putting the camera on a tripod and building a light box, and that may still not have produced good results for me. it was just a more fool-proof option for me to go this route.

As far as your question, I can't answer since I just bought it for smaller items. I do believe I have taken pic of Matchbox sized diecast, if that helps. I removed the stand that came with mine and mounted it on a mini-tripod for better adjustment. I generally upload all my pics to Photobucket, and have it set so they automatically resize for forum posting.

Okay thanks, just wondering since it is a darn microscope how large of an item you could take a shot of. If you can do a matchbox then I would think a jig for sure. I can get my camera just a few inches away and still get a clear pic, but if I happen to get just a little too close, it's fuzzy like a lot are. I usually take most of mine probably less than 6" away from my lens. Heck I just had to pick up my camera to see how far it is away, LOL! I am lucky though I guess as I have always just been able to use a camera and it treat me well, but I have taken a ton of pictures over my life too. Even though about doing that for a living for a while a very long time ago.

Now the tricky stuff is taking clear picks of something glowing like FL Paint under a Black light, but it's so cool when you do. Funny but taking a pic of my glow jigs is totally different and since I take them in regular light it's easy and just like any other pic I take. It's just UV and FL stuff under a Black Light that is harder and have to do different things to get that. When that friend of mine was helping me learn to rope dub I took some pics of FL Stuff under a Black Light and then had to teach him because he couldn't get a clear picture of that.

That is a cool tool for take hand free pics and not a bad price for anyone that may be looking. I can take a pic of a nat on a frogs hair with my camera but there are times when it would be nice to have both hands free. :ThumbsUp

I'm with you skip on taking pics under a UV light. Getting the jig to light up in the right places can be hard to achieve..

we were messing around this morning with my cam camera made by logitech is high definition entered is very expensive I will post a picture here on what it can do but for 30 some dollars you cannot go wrong on that little camera that you posted I believe that I have $129 into this cam camera if you noticed the clarity is not is good but I did not have the proper lighting and we were definitely just messing with it. But I deftly and thinking about using that for jig pictures I've also enclosed a picture of a jig with the cam camera.
