Making real spoon jigging spoons

My wife had some old souvenir spoons that see was wanting to part with so...... fishing spoons is what came to my mind.

Took them out to the shop and used a cutoff wheel to remove the handles and then drilled a hole in the top and bottom.

I filed down the shape edges, powder painted them and put them in the oven to cure.

I then tied some material on the hooks to match the painted spoons and used split rings to attach the hooks and to attach a swivel to the tops.
Here are the finished spoons. They weigh from 3/16 up to 1/4oz.

So, if your wife has a few spoons that she won't miss nonono or you find some at a yard sale, make you some jigging spoons. :)

Stump I did that back when I was in Junior HS, read about it in a Vlad Evanoff book and went in the cellar and found some shiny spoons and grabbed 6 of them, had never seen them used so figured it was okay. Cut those handles off, sanded the edges and drilled the holes attached the hooks on three and painted the others then attached the hooks.

Thanksgiving came and Mom came up from the basement yelling where's all the spoons from the plastic box!!!!!!!!!!! Turns out they were REAL SILVER SPOONS!!! from a set!!! Man did I get it and I will NEVER forget it!!!!!!!!!!!LOL

:Rofl That would be my luck also!!! I have seen some spoons made from table spoons over the years but never from the small spoons. Interrested to see how they work on a river near my house. Here is a better pic so you can see the colors better.

Should work , but don't know if heavy enough for a jigging spoon. I would probably fish them casting. All the jigging spoons I use a long, skinny and solid. I bet unpainted they will catch fish in salt water as I use to fish a lot of that when I lived near the coast. Love catching red fish on spoons. I would just get in trouble though converting spoons into fishing spoons, LOL!
