I myself have never been .... yet but Ive always hear about things on the north end and over by the old bombing targets? GOOD LUCK!
Better have good rod holders if you fish near the bomb circles. Redfish work their way down from Jax and like those things. A friend was working a rattle trap around em with a good heavy rod and 17lb line. Got a strike, leaned back and saw a copper colored flash and that thing headed north and never stopped. Popped the line at the end. Never fished the north end, but the fenders at the south end are always worth a try when they get finicky.
Skeetbum, what are fenders? Thanks.
Fenders
Thanks Danny. I've spent several days of my life looking at a bridge similar to that, many good memories. Now at least I know that it was Goliath Grouper breaking me off and never getting them turned. I didn't own the tackle or the smarts to ever get to see one, much less land one.
The fenders of which I speak are at the mouth of the St.Johns on the south end of George and usually hold some current and can be tough to impossible to fish in heavy flow. They can hold some banner size fish at the right time. I never passed them on my way anywhere.
Thanks for sharing guys...good to know. I have never fished that massive lake George, but I plan to give her a whirl some day.
