I keep hearing about Crappie in the river. Well it is low and clear right now. I went to Slatey Crossing close to the Yell / Perry County line today. Lots of cover , water mostly 8 to 10'. Water temp was 46 degrees. I never caught a Crappie but it sure is full of Kentucky (Spotted) Bass. :dono
I've fished it a few times but only during the spring. We generally put in at pontoon and travel toward the arkansas we have caught some decent fish before but never just really killed it . Im only a couple miles from the launch so its much easier to fish the river if i have limited time, but i would rather fish nimrod any day !!
It beats the heck outa the deep clear lakes I'll tell you that much. There's no telling how many crappie i've caught over the years outa that river. It's below Blue Mtn so what you expect though? You seen to be doing pretty well up on Nimrod though, right?

All lake reports for these deeper clearer lakes seem to focus on fishing that deeper, vertical style, guess they are all wrong then??? I'll be glad to get away from them myself!Quote:
