I have an old fly rod that belonged to my dad, 50+ years old, it is a 2 piece and I put it together and it is stuck good. I have tried WD-40 and it will not budge, any ideas on getting it un-stuck?

1. Try pouring cold water over the joint.
2. If that does not do it try heat on the outer section and ice on the inner section.
3. Still no success? Try warming with a hair dryer. BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVERHEAT IT! The epoxy holding it together is usually heat activated and will weaken when hot.
4. If trying alone hold the sections behind your legs at the knees and pull (carefully). Do not twist the rod but apply a steady pulling force on the sections.
5. No go? Try pulling with a friend, keeping your hands close to the joint
6. Still no luck ? Take it to your fly shop and try their ideas!
I will give those a try, thanks for your response.
I also, would try all the things irish1 suggested. And in the same order.
By the time I walked out to my shop, the only step I could remember was number 4, so I tried it and bam, it worked like a charm. Thanks for the suggestions, this has been driving me crazy.
