Hit Degray early this morning
I wanted to fish Ouachita but with high winds in the forecast I thought I'd take the closer trip to Degray. I had minnows today thinking with the clearer water they might produce a bit better. I was at the dock before daylight so had plenty of time to unload. I launched at Arlie Moore but had plans of heading up toward Shouse Ford which I later did. I'd checked water levels before I left so I knew it would be around 11 to 12' low, Ouachita was around 10' low. The latest weekly fishing report said crappie were slow on Degray but good on Ouachita. I didn't catch a single crappie today. If it weren't for 3 average size spots I'd have came home empty handed. Once again typical Degray, dang wind! It did get up but later in the day. If I can catch a less windy day before this warm weather breaks I'd really like to fish Ouachita. For what It's worth I did manage to sink a little brush on Degray today, Lord know's those fish need all the help they can get. I talked to 2 other boats who hadn't caught nothing either to which I said well that's about par for down here. Just thought I'd give the report where others won't waste a trip on a good day this time of year. We don't get a lotta good days this time of the year and a guy really needs to be where there's fish when the weathers right. I'm hoping this wind lays in the next couple days where I can hit Ouachita.
