Hello all,
I am completely out of the loop on today's technology. The Lowrance on my boat is at least 15 years old and half of the screen quit working.
What are some "good enough" models for Guntersville crappie on a budget? What are the most important features I should be considering?

Personally I'b buy something with a color screen and a built in GPS and the largest screen I could afford. There are also some good deals out there now on used units.
The key factor is your budget. 150.00 to 3000.00 lot of good inexpensive units out there if you just want a depth finder that will show brush and stuff without a lot of detail. Agree with P61 that the color units are way better especially if your eyes are like mine and getting tired. Remember your budget. Look at Cabelas and BPS web site find something you like and call Brian at BBG marine who is a member sponsor on here for your best deal and I'm not affiliated with them in any way.
Consider the 598 Ci HD! Side imaging is a plus. Cant beat Humminbird service and ease of use.
Both Humminbird and Lowrance have some great "entry level" models that would fit your needs and your budget. Technology has changed a bunch since your fishfinder was built. Give me a call or shoot me a PM if I can help ya'

Buy one of each. That will take the guesswork out of the equation. Most times you need two anyhow.
