Will I get interference running 2 units/transducers at the same time?

Bought a new Lowrance Elite 5 DSI today. Not extactly what I wanted but what I could afford. Had them on sale at Academy Sports for $399 marked down from $649. Thought it was a great deal. Hope so!

Anyway, want to run my current/old Eagle Fishmark 320 and the new E 5 unit simultaneously until I completely learn the new unit. Should I expect problems with interference from the 2 transducers running this set up?? Don't want to run into problems thinking the new unit doesn't function properly becuase I am running both and causing problems.

Comments/suggestions appreciated!!

Shouldn't see any interference since they run different frequencies.

I think you will have a problem,I have a 480 eagle and a Lowrance 339 and a Hummining bird 798 and these units brings a problem on 339 unit

I think so too. If you have the transducers together on the back, the cone angles will overlap if you run them at the same time.

x3! I have seen it many times, transducer works off sound waves that bounce back when they meet resistance (an object or fish)1 These sound waves will bounce off each other and cause problems.

The Eagle Fishmark 320 is 200kHz ...Specifications for FishMark 320 | Eagle
The Elite 5DSI is 455/800kHz...Lowrance Elite-5 DSI | Fishfinder Chartplotter - LOWRANCE | Marine Electronics

Sonar to sonar crosstalk interference is generally associated when running 2 units at the same frequency...(as some above have mentioned)...

Hook 'em up... Run 'em both ...see what happens..

If there is interference in either unit.. It would more than likely be powerwire or xducer wire induced interference...

Just spent 2 hours on the water with both the E5DSI and Fishmark 320 running simaltaneously with no interference, no problems. Both worked great.

Now the real problem is figuring out how to interperate the DS sonar screens!! Glad I hooked up both units cause I can't tell anything from the new DS images!! Will take lots o practice!

Be sure you are wired to the battery....

I now offer a 10' or 20' extension cable I made up to hook your Electronics straight to the battery. It is Ancor Safety Duplex Cable - 14/2 gauge wire with an inline fuse holder and a 3 amp fuse. It also has the battery loops on the end to connect to your battery.

The power wire for Humminbird is only 6' and will not reach to the battery in many cases. Most will wire into a dash switch or fuse panel. This will sometimes cause a low voltage issue and create problems with your unit. I recommend wiring your unit direct to the battery to eliminate the chance for a low voltage issue down the road. This cable will assist you and save you some steps during your installation.
