I tie all my jigs with silicon skirt in them with flash.
Both
I like them both too.
No rubber, but silicone is better because it's not like rubber that will melt some plastic boxes and ruin the box and the jig.
Like Skip, I prefer silicone, just moves better. I like a few strands on the shank first then cover with slightly shorter maribou and then a flash or two. I've tried the bucktail for crappie and wasn't happy with the results. Too much hair I think. Others have done better than mine did. Yours look good to me.
I like it with hackle and after the hackle is tied in you tie in a few strands. Actually tie in 2 and double them back to make 4. I have not tried it a lot, but have ties some with just the Silicone skirt material with no feathers or hair, but need more steands. Got a guide on my pro staff to try them out and he said both worked well. Also the silicone by it self makes for a different look in the water and holds it width better.
i do not use flash with silicone since i use the kind of flash that will end up tangling in the skirt material. I do have some that I think would work, but not the normal kind most use.
I have never tried the combo. I either use rubber, feathers, or hair, it will be interesting to see how the fish react to the combo.
I know the rubber tails work well on my KISS Bug patterns. I do prefer silicone over rubber if I can find silicone in a small diameter. Silicone comes in .020 and .030 sizes ,where as rubber comes in .010 and .015 sizes.
Here are a couple of mixed one....
