The HumminbirdPC program is available off the Humminbird web site when you register your unit. It should be one of the available downloads shown for your Humminbird unit when you register it.
Yes you can open Garmin (*.gdb and *.mps) files and save them as *.gpx type files. These can then be uploaded to an SD or SDHC memory card where they get converted into the *.hwr file format for your Humminbird unit to use.
It’s not that hard Wannabe after you run through it one time. If you need step-by-step directions just let me know or email me the Garmin file and I will convert it for you and email it back.
Just an FYI: Humminbird and just about every other GPS manufacturer, uses their own file format for their Navigation Data (aka: “Nav Data”), which includes waypoints, routes and tracks. We originally started using our own *.hwr formatting but wanted a way for users to be able to bring waypoints in from other brands and also to be able to allow our users that ability to use other programs to add, delete, edit and otherwise manage their waypoints. So we started using the more globally accepted *.gpx file format in the HumminbirdPC program. When you upload or download Nav Data to/from the HumminbirdPC program it converts the data to and from the *.gpx file format to the *.hwr file format. [Note: the asterisk (*) means anything, so when you see something like *.gpx it means any file name with the gpx file extension.]
