Fishing with a 5 time NBA champ.

Ok normally I don't post my trips but this one is one for the books.
I took Brian Shaw former LA Laker guard and assistant coach, Now The assistant coach to the Indiana Pacers. Brian and His son BJ had a good time fishing but I think I was one who had the most fun talking basketball with a five time world champ.
I must say Brian is a super nice guy and he absolutely LOVES crappie fishing. He showed me several pictures of 2.5lb + crappie he catches in California where he grew up and still lives in the off season. I quickly said to him that we are now in Indiana and don't expect a 2lb crappie..LOL!
He said he knows we don't have the quality they do but he loves to eat fish and the 10 to 12" crappie are the best... WHEW! is what went through my head when he said that..LOL!
Oh by the way his son is 13 years old and looks me in the eye...

That's cool. Where were you fishing at? Good trip?

Oh I forgot to mention they caught 50 crappie with 32 being good keepers then they wanted to fish for catfish so they caught 4 big cats. The cat bite was real slow but the crappie bite wasn't to bad.
Fish were suspended 5' down over 20' of water.

That smile on Tom's face says "big tip", LOL. I'm not much for pro basketball, but did by chance bump into Rik Smits at a little country store close to home. He has a get-away place about 3 miles from me, and by chance was in the store with his son one day while I happened in. They were standing off to the side consuming some junk food, and the first thought I had was , wow,... that guy is tall. His head barely missed the ceiling. Anyhow, recognizing who he was, I jokenly said to the lady who owns the store in a voice loud enough he could hear.. "somebody should tell that guy he should play basketball". She gave me a serious look and in a low voice said..."don't you know who that is?" I was curious what kind of vehicle he would be driving , and watched as he stepped out and went to a dodge cummins 350 crew cab. Looked like any other redneck truck loving guy from this area...LOL.

Wow, I bet Mr. Shaw was stoked!! I mean, seriously, he was fishing with the reigning ISM Classic Champ and this year's BnM Points race champion! He'll be telling his grandchildren about this one!
