Ok you 4x4 full size truck owners, need some input from

yall, Im considering buying me a Chevy or Ford 4x4 full size truck used. I want one that has ext cab or the 3 door setup. What kinda mileage is to much on one of these trucks ? I know it all has to do with how it was serviced and all but you guys can give me an idea of what kinda mileage one of these trucks can be expected to hold up for. Not looking to drive it across the USA, just to work (3.5 miles each way) and pull my boat to maybe Grenada at the fartherest. I know this is a wide open question but I have always had small or mid size truck. My sportrac has a 6cyl in it and when pulling the big ole F&F boat, it sucks the gas down. Want to have a 4x4 and an 8cyl I do believe

F150 hands down.....

My '11 Sierra Z71 has the 5.3 ltr and 6 speed trans. Only gets 13-14mpg no matter how I drive it. Will kill you on gas on your short commuts. Get you a small car for work, if it is just to get you to work, and a good used 4x4 to pull the boat.

Ditto......I just bought a '12 Z71 with the 5.3 as well (Crew Cab) two weeks ago....Same on gas mileage as MAJ, but man its a sweet truck. I love it!!

Major, my sportrac aint that great on gas either, so I figured if Im gonna not have gas mileage, might as well be comfortable and have 4x4 with more room. Aint gonna buy new, Im just a newby banker unlike WB, so I cant afford a new one like he can :)

1996 3/4 ton chevy 4/4 5 speed manual 350 vortec. Gets around 15 pulling boat if I keep it around 65 any more and the bottom drops out. Just use it to pull boat. Yep! Some Fords are built in Canada. Mine was. But, having said that, I once owned a Chevy truck that got 23 miles per gallon and I put
330,000 miles on it before I had the transmission rebuilt. I traded it in on a new F250 diesel..........had bad luck with the first one, but this
2011 has been a gem with @ 20 mpg when not pulling. Depends on altitude. The higher the altitude, the better the mileage. I would suggest
you really do some research and not rush into a purchase. I have several friends that have recently purchased F150's with ecoboost and
they rave about them and the power they have, plus good mileage per gallon. I've never known of any manufacturer not building a lemon
once in a while..........big decision. I learned some years ago a FX4 is better than a 4X4, check it out for yourself. Good luck to ya.
