Turns on, shows depth and fish for a few seconds, then goes to a depth of .6 with a white screen. Could this be a problem with finder or transducer. Transducer is mounted on the trolling motor.

Sounds like a possible intermitant issue in the xducer cable...and/or a power cable...
Check for damage or pinches in the cable....I have heard of instances where a ziptie drawn too tight can actually damage the xducer cable...
Check the connections at the head unit for corrosion or loose fitting...
Charge and load test your battery... Age of battery is not always an indicator of battery state...

I would vote for a broken ducker cable since it is on troller. Take ducker off and wiggle the cable between ducker and where it comes off motor. Most cables can be repaired if broken.
I would vote for the transducer as well, but if you can: test your 570 unit on someone else’s boat that is running a Humminbird unit. It doesn’t have to be another 570 model unit as most use the same 200kHz sonar as the 570 unit does. All you are looking for is that the water depth comes up for more than just a few seconds as it does on your boat.
