Always keep a knife sharp, a dull knife will make a jagged tearing cut, a sharp knife makes a clean cut, one thats easy for the doctors to stitch up. A old man I once knew always said " A man that dont carry a knife in his pocket should carry a purse." I never leave home with out a knife. Its like my bilfold, I feel naked without it. I fish Lake Conway, its got a million stumps and every stump has a trotline tied to it and on them trotlines are some of those big ole 8/0 and 10/0 stainless steel hooks, so if you fall in and mess around and get tangle in a trotline your main line of defense is a sharp knife. I always keep a sharp knife handy. A dull knife is like a gun with no bullets, kinda useless.
That kind of funny. On of the reasons I was late posting is that a bunch of my hunting friends had a pile of knifes they wanted sharpened. I told them next time to wait to the last minute. I think I sharpened 10-15 of them. There all ready now to cut and gut.
