Fall Crappie Tactics
So many great ideas on here, how awsome would it be to put all these together in one spot. If anyone wants to participate I will have you email or PM me your ideas with your real name (to give you credit if you want it) and I will put them on here and with your permission on the outdoorsman with a link. My email is [email protected] or PM me.
Here are the questions -
What is the best tactics to put big fall crappie in your boat?
What is your go to fall bait?
This is open to all fisherman, pro or novice a like.

Nick, I've found in my days of crappie fishing that the best and NEVER fail solution isn't even a lure or presentation, but rather it's actually a vessel or the boat that you use. In stating this I've only got one example, it's truly the best I can do or have ever seen. Go fishing with Craig and his shocker boat. It makes sorting the dinks a breeze and you will always come home with the bigguns. :biggrin

I've never really fished for crappie in the Fall(too busy bowhunting deer) but I have found a new hobby that I'm totally hooked on! Ice Fishing!! I tried it a few years haphazardly but now I have A Showdown ice fishing depth finder and you can literally watch the crappie rise up and take your jig, just like a video game! I didn't get to use it in Kansas last Winter but I did use it on our Christmas trip to Northern Colorado and its awesome!!! Here are a few pics from Boyd lake last December!Attachment 101030Attachment 101031Attachment 101032Attachment 101033Attachment 101034Attachment 101035Attachment 101036

I will be fishing them hard this fall.....I struggle in the fall. But I plan to fish areas with sharp drop offs ledges....been scoping and catch a few already in these areas. Going to try to drop some brush in one spot.....building bucket trees

Duckman I was thinking about you this evening as I watched a flock on Canada's fly over. I used to hunt in my youger days, but it's too hard of work now, plus I like being married (I fish a lot!)Are you concerned the birds may just keep on trucking due to the lack of corn?
Best fall tactic for big fall crappie: Big baits, shallow water or shallow over moderately-deep BP's
Best fall bait: 3-4" plastic brown/orange is usually good

I do better in fall than any other time.these slabs are there for 1 reason, getting fat. I found they chase the shad up the creeks.so i use 2inch woolly beaver tails and 3 inch sassy shad on steady or falling barometric pressure. if it is over 30. i down size to a 1.5 inch tube allways with a crappie nibblet.dippn stumps. in 8-10 fow.

Good Post guys, keep them coming. Eatmor, I think we were very worried. Isaac really helped us out and if we can keep what we have it will be an OK season. Last year was just so bad that normal may seem easy. Lakes and Res are 3 ft low leaving a lot of mud flat between the water and cover, rivers are running at 1/2 to 1/3 normal flow and if those don't get better they won't be able to pump the marshes. I know a lot of SE KS and Central KS still need more so keep doing your rain dance!

just because you have an expensive boat doesnt mean you will catch more fish!?!?!?!?!?! why do you think that?

You may not catch more fish, but it doesn't hurt. So they tell me
