KC Area Mechanics
Anybody have any recommendations for Mercury mechanics in the KC area. I had been going to a shop in Merriam, KS, but it closed, so I started going to US Boatworks in KCK. I went pick up my rig yesterday after having some work done and they had forgotten to remove the drain plug after taking it out for testing :bash. Thanks to hurricane Isaac (and their negligence) my boat had several feet of water in it which turned me into :hatchet:. Obviously, I am not pleased with the results of that particular shop. I live in Mission, so anything within thirty minutes would be a possibility.

United Boats and Motors in Stillwell rebuilt a 175 Evinrude for me around ten years ago. It's a one man operation(John Jewell) and I didn't have any complaints about his work just the amount of money I had to spend to get it fixed. :yikes

The area's finest Merc mechanic is at Savanah Marine. A bit north of St Joe. I know thats some travel but this man is amazing and worth the drive. His name is Joel. Google Savanah Marine and yes he's Merc trained and certified and fairly priced.

I have used Franks Marine in Lansing Kansas, 913 250 1788 two times, been satisfied with the service and the price.

Arnies in Lawrence has always been fair to me.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try one of these out next time.
By the way, I wouldn't recommend the US Boatworks shop in KCK. Apparently at least three total boats at this location were left with drain plugs in during the Isaac mess. They didn't do any work on my boat to fix alleviate any issues other than pulling it inside and opening the compartments. No compensation was offered even after some of my reels had seized up (they were cheap). They said they load tested batteries, but produced no printed results. I had to clean the battery terminals myself due to corrosion, and the fuse housings in the bilge area were not opened to dry out. They also did not even take the time to vacuum any debris or wipe off any surfaces. Just venting a little here, but these guys have definitely lost my business.
