WOW, what a trip. I've only been to Wi once and that was for boot camp in 1960. Don't remember much except it was very cold. Anyway it sounds like you had a fantastic trip.
Wow this is a great article Ed. You make it sound like Wisconsin is the place to go to have fun. Glad to see that all of you had so much fun. Now after reading this article I bet thtere will be alot of people wanting to visit Wisconsin. Again way to go my friend.
Although i live and fish Florida year round i might have to take a summer vacation to wisconson. The salmon fishing experience as well as the brewery tours would be great.Your longtime xperiences there are an oppurtunity most have not had. Cheerish that.
What a wonderful story Ed. I had never heard the one about banning bananas on the boat though. Wisconsin has wonderful people. The Cleveland Browns got one of the best when they picked Joe Thomas. It is great to see you are enjoying Northern hospitality. I am from the north and the fishermen in Ohio are just as friendly. I moved to the south and the Crappies are bigger and the fishing folks are just as hospitable. I try and live by Romans 12:9-19 so as to be hospitable myself.
You have to love Crappie fishermen. They welcome you with open arms, are.kind as well as patient. When they are off the water they love to have fun. Looks like you and the wife did. Well done my friend. To top it off you got to walk the same grounds as Lombardi. He always said " If it important enough to you be here ten minutes before the meeting starts." I live by Lombardi time.
Glad you and the family had fun.
Another super article Ed. Like Pappy, I consider it an honor to be part of Crappie.com and be associated with all the great folks that call this their "cyberhome". Thnnks to you and your great enthusiasm and love for the sport, many people have benefited from this website. Keep up the good work my friend!
Great Story Ed!! I would have to agree with you on the Wisconsin Folks. Now I have not been on any hunting or fishing trips up there but back in early 2002 we joined the co-op Wis-Pak (pepsi). We were the first bottler to join their group from the South and I could not ask for any better people to work with. I'm hoping on one of my trips to Madison for a meeting that I can go out fishing. They are very nice folks and they do have the Family Values!!!
Thanks,
Lynn
I wonder if this Wikipedia quote has anything to do with the good nature of Wisconsin's residents:
"Drinking has long been considered a significant part of Wisconsin culture, and the state ranks at or near the top of national measures of per-capita alcohol consumption, likely due to factors such as cultural identification with the state's heritage of German immigration and the longstanding presence of major breweries."
