Anybody go fishing over the weekend? Good or bad.........lets see some reports.:)
wish i could but spent the weakin doing repairs on my rental house .hope to git it rented and i can start going with this cooler weather coming in .
I had good intentions, Butch...But instead I was just "Water Lice" yesterday..Probably gonna give it 3-4 more weeks before I start getting serious...Can't wait for cooler weather!!!
Did reel good in the Mountains playing golf this weekend. Went by several large lakes and I admit "I did Lust for fishing". Get everything ready, finish the house, and then go fishing. Look out late September and October, etc.
Lightning hit us last Thursday and we've been sorting out the damage ever since then...TV...RADIO CLOCK....WELL PUMP....MY COMPUTER(wifey's no damage)...TWO CABLE BOXES.....MODEM...so I haven't even been thinking about fishing. Now the storm's gonna slide by us so that'll make for some windy water but I plan to hit about 5 places on Monroe next Thursday. It's getting close to that time for sure!!!
Woke up yesterday and went outside and looked at the trees and they were calm. Went in checked wunderground and they called for 3-5mph winds till 10:30 so I woke up my wife and loaded up and headed out. Turned the corner into Monroe and was met by a stiff breeze but tried some places that were somewhat kinda sheltered and did the best I could till 8:00 or so when it started whitecapping. Managed a few trolling and headed up river and managed a few more until the clouds moved in and we beet feet to get out the way of the rains. All were released unharmed to catch another day with their brethren. Want em to think that the guy in the plain ole G3 will set em free. Settin the trap fer em.
Wow! That's tough Speckanator.:( I hope you come out alright with the insurance company.
There was 5 boats including some from SC that came over to my area and fished with us locals on Lake Russell and everybody caught a good many fish. We fished from daylight until 10-11AM, had a greet and meet at the ramp and ate our sammiches and shot the bull for awhile. (Almost as much fun as a crappiefest.:)) Most everybody fished in water 12'-17' deep pulling jigs about 10' deep. I moved to the shallows and pulled jigs near the bottom in 7'-10' of water and did good there too. Wherever you can find the bait congregating you have found the fish.:ThumbsUp We're starting to find 'em in the same places we were catching pre-spawn fish back last spring.
Went this afternoon and fought the wind and ski boats for a few hours hoping both would go away soon. Found the fish and on the 2nd pass t/m batts died! Gotta check it out in the day time. They aint old enough to give up that soon and the charger was green when I hooked up to go today. Son caught the biggest and made sure I knew it too. See how the batts go and this storm and try again in a few days. Water was 85 and fairly clear fish with bait +/- 10' down on the deeper flats.

Purty fish shine. I'd love catching a box full of 'em that size.:fingerdance I'm hoping that after Labor Day Weekend people start winterizing their play purties and we gain control back over the lakes again. I'm hoping to get back on the water one more time before the crowds start moving in to the campgrounds and onto the lakes next weekend. Depends on that storm though.
Went Saturday night at a lake in our subdivision could not find a crappie did catch 6 cats good eating size
