I am getting a little confused on which is the correct

ducer for a 898c, I see a couple of different one, If I remember right, one is a 180 and one is a 160, I believe the 180 is the correct one but want to make sure incase my attempt at splicing my ducer back together from where the TM ate it :( Also, on HB's website is see a statement like this (*To obtain 8000 watts PTP requires the use of the optional 1kW (8000watt) transducer) and dont know if I should consider this if I have to have a replacement. I havent researched this ducer any and thus the cost may be outta my league :)

Seems like that I had heard that also, thats why I didnt research it any. I have found what I think is the correct one for the 898 on Amazon for 162.19 free shipping, Ive sent CP a PM and gonna try to salvage this one first before I bite the bullet on a new one

When it comes to electrical,CP is your man.

Listen to him, or get it to me and I'll take it to him for repair. I would then try to rook a few hours of fishing with him. They can be spliced successfully though.

I think I remember Greg saying the 1kw xducer is for deeeeeep water....

thanks all, gave it whirl on splicing back together the wires, solder, heat shrink each wire, then liquid electrical tape on each one and then once dried, heat shrink them all together with another larger piece of heat shrink and then went over it all with one last piece :) so maybe that will work

Sounds like it should work well and be sealed from water intrusion too.

The correct standard transducer for the 898c Si units is the XHS-9-HDSi-180-T, but the one for the trolling motor is the XTM-9-HDSi-180-T (same transducer just different mounting hardware).

That 8,000 Watt transducer is for very deep water and is only for the conventional 2D sonar – not something that most crappie fishermen would use.
