These are way to big for crappie or anything most of us tie! The smallest one is almost 2 Oz??Plus to me this looks like something for soft plastic. Is this your site?
We use them in mississippi we just make our own a 3# fish will kill it 1/4oz is as big as i would go personally maby bigger fishing in current they do look nice
What kind of tail would you tie to make em swim? I don't see maribou making em move much.
They look too bulky, too many knobs and things in the way. Is so much easier to tie an articulated pattern on your choice of jig head and set the length where you want it for whatever you are fishing for.
Not my site skip, just something I came across. It's a shame they don't make them in smaller sizes. I like the articulation and thought the people on this site may have used that style of thing to tie flies on.
dblevens, marabou would probably be okay or perhaps longish rooster feathers may be worth a try.
fish_4_all, I'm not sure what you mean or how you tie an articulated pattern on your choice of jig head.
I've had a few ideas about making a smaller version. I'll have a play tomorrow and post a pic of what I end up with.
Take second jig hook or fly hook and tie what will be the tail section. Put a piece of 10/15/20/30/50# (your choice, have to find what you like, I used 30# in the past) mono-filament through the eye of the tied tail and double it over. Tie that into the jig head you want to use after you cut the hook off just below the start of the bend of the hook so the new tie has something to hold onto and not slip off.
Basically the same concept as the jigs on the site except you use mono-filament instead of bulky eyes. If you are gonna make them you can make the jig heads on cheaper jig hooks and then put a trailer hook of any type you want. A much longer jig can be tied that way with a hook that trails and can freely move so that larger fish don't shake the hook out as easily. Some swear by it for landing more fish. You can leave both hooks intact if oyu want. You can also tie in a 3rd hook if you wanted to.

First go. ... not happy with the height of the loop where the fishing line is tied on, but thats easily fixed on the next one.
Right now it looks a bit red neck with a skeleton made out of wire and solder, but it should look okay when dressed (both hook and wire) and the solder area is smoothly covered with nail polish.
It's a bit over an inch long, but made with a smaller single short shanked hook, it would end up about 3/4 of an inch.

Half dressed. I made a new wire skeleton changing the height of the loop where the fishing line is tied on. Still thinking about the body.
