Hunting vs Fishing
In hunting, if you can shoot, you can hunt.
In fishing, there is no primary skill so experience is knowledge. Hence all the B.S. still that doesn't mean all knowledge is invalid but is does bear out under experience.
I sometimes think the real fishing is done in the bait shop by the lure manufactures with the fishermen selecting their lures. That's when the hook is set, the rest is just eventual. But I'm a newbie, and will certainly be proved wrong at some point, I am sure.
I like to eat what I catch or kill. So for hunting I go for game birds or rabbits, deer is too much trouble and for the cost per pound I'd rather eat fillet mignon.
But pan fishing, now there's something worth the effort, both in enjoyment of the capture and in the eating.

Welcome from GEORGIA Fritz. I believe the experience AND SKILL in fishing or hunting comes out in a person's success rate. Sure, anyone can get lucky every now and then but to be consistant with a nice deer or two every year or steady stringers of nice panfish there are plenty of things to learn. Matter of fact...I've came to realize long time ago that this old man never seems to quit learning new things. I disagree that it doesnt take skills or everybody you see on the water would constantly bring in coolers of fish or wall hanger bucks....and we both know that doesnt happen.
I do agree though that if looking at the cost per lb then both game and fish would be much cheaper to buy. But for me....that's the bonus.Thumbs Up I dont expect every time out the door to produce a cooler of fish or a truck load of deer.

There's a difference between heating things up and cooking. One implies a level of mastery and assurance of outcome, the other is just following directions.
There are some masters here which I am eager to learn from.
