Finally got Turquoise mix!!!!!

For a couple of weeks now I've been trying to mix up some powder paint to get a Turquoise color. My first attempts kept getting shades of green!!!!! and nothing else, although some of those green shades are nice which adds another color for me.

Well yesterday I started from scratch and I got IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...s/100_2061.jpg

1 1/2 tbs blue
1/4 tsp olive
brush tap of white and yellow
1/8 tsp yellow Chartreuse
3 tsp clear

Only problem I have with it is that it's really flat, which surprised me as I had the clear in it. Used a fluid bed to apply it. May go back and put a clear coat on it just to shine it up.

One coat of Sally Henson's or clear vinyl will sure the flat finish to a nice gloss! Have you looked a Columbia to see if they make one?

Skip - I have the clear coat powder paint. I'll do it with that - This color went on really easy with the fluid bed. Even other jigs that I tapped this on for a two tone came out a dull color. So either it's going to be a clear coat or try adding a bunch of clear to the mix.

Well the clear I don't think will hurt the color as I have added some before, but never tried to find out if it ever changed it at some point or not.

Good luck with it. I am thinking about buying some Turquoise because I have some of this color in marabou and a few other materials. Just been lazy about it. I got interested because of that famous fly tyer that they named some colors after and he had a Turquoise. I forget his name right at this second, but think it's something like Whitlock??

Doug, try like a 5:1 of clear to your turquoise. Any more and it will prob become a candy.

Thanks. Once I had the color I mixed a bunch to make sure I didn't have to play making another batch right away. I'll take a 1/2 tbs and add more clear and dip a few see what happens. if it works I'll do the whole batch.

That's a good looking mix. Good to see you found the right colors to mix together.

Let us know if the clear works. It may be the key to a better shine to other colors. I will try it .

Okay did a few more tests

Here's with dipping in a clear coat to make them shiny, because they were such a flat color they are a little darkerwith the clear coat.

Added more color mix in to level it out, and now only have to do one dip
