I decided to head down to Lochloosa in the morning to try for some bream since I found I had some frozen grass shrimp in the freezer. I thought I'd also pick up some crickets at Lochloosa Harbor as well since that's seems to be the only place on the lake to launch
Without giving away any honey holes, anybody got any info on general areas of the lake to try? Never fished it before.

Crappie Masters top leader...nope, not me. I'm not an amature at fishing, just an amature at Lochloosa. All my crappie success has come from Lite Wire Hooker on Lake Talquin.

Well he's got to be remembering me. The bite is still good at Talquin.....I know of couple limits caught Friday and Saturday......good fish.......and Yes they were using Litewirehooks

You will see all the locales fishing. There will be boats cluttered together. Prob on the south end or north end. There is always a little gang of boats in the little lake too. Most people out there fish with a cane pole or bream buster with about 3ft of line and vertical jig the shrimp or crinkets in the pads. You will see everyone doing it.
Like Phantom said. PLEASE give us a report. Personally I just want to knowfrom somebody that's been there if the water level has come up any! Pictures of fish caught would be nice and what kind of boat you managed to get in the lake.
I was able to launch at Lochloosa Harbor today without any problems. Just had to trim the motor up until I got out deep enough. I was using a 14' Bomber fiberglass bass boat with a 40 hp Yamaha. Launch fee was $4.
When you launch, keep your trailer in the center of their ramp and as soon as your boat starts to float off the trailer get out and give it a nudge. No power loading is allowed.
Water was really stained. I got on the water about 7:30 am. Drive down from Jacksonville was longer than I figured. Bottom line was I got skunked. I tried worms, crickets, frozen grass shrimp and gar roe. I fished the pads on the north and north east side then motored down to Brunt Island and fish along the north side of it near the park and fishing dock. Then I went around into Little Lochloosa and tried there. Zero. I mean not even a nibble. Storm came up about 2:30 so I headed in. The biggest problem I had was finding where to get back into Lochloosa Harbor from the lake. It took me two passes to finally find it. There are two poles with orange tape on them showing the entry but you gotta be pretty close to see them.
During the morning I hardly saw any boats but after lunch there were more. Maybe 10-12 all day until I left. Most folks were anchored up in the pads and they were using long PVC push poles with a T on the end to manuever around. I had never seen that before. 'Course it was my first time there. The bottom seems "mushy" all over. I never did find any hard sand bottom anywhere I fished. And it seemed that most of the greenery was just pads in maybe 2-4' of water. My depth finder conked out on me and I wasn't getting good signals but I could tell from poking my paddle in the water how shallow it was around the pads and how mushy the bottom was.
I talked to a couple of guys on my way out and they said they had a few but I forgot to ask what they were using for bait. The bait shop at Lochloosa Harbor only had worms. Seemed like everyone was outta crickets. I finally found some at Steve's Tackle in Jacksonville.
A pole with 3' of line on it makes sense because with more line you will definitely be getting hung up in those pads.
I got a lot to learn about Lochloosa.
