Strange catch

Went to the upper Blackwater sat for 2 hours, couldnt hone in on the crappie....much to my surprise I took the first crappie skunk ive had at the BW in two yrs or so. Working some deeper water I caught a few bream on jigs and a 20 inch Striper!! Caught him on a homemade yellow/red flake pintail minnow. water was stagnate still and 89 degree surf temp...first time ive had a striper that late in the season, or that far up river...odd?

I'm sure the extreme heat has had a negative effect on the crappie's appetite.
