It is in New Smyrna just inside the inlet, the island is to the northwest of the coast guard station.
Yes, if you put in there to the south, at the causeway, and travel north (east channel), right there where you get to the inlet , right there is disappearing island (to your left), in the river, due west of the mouth of the inlet. It's called that cause it was formed from the sand dug from digging the channel, but because of the incoming/outgoing tide flow in the inlet, it becomes smaller and smaller each year = disappearing island.
Great place to pull up to and have an outing/fish.....
Careful = Coast guard is always watching ! !
I haven't been there in a few years but I always liked to pull up to "Dog beach" (northwest side of inlet) and fish from there ........
Use Google Earth to locate it, and ramp at causeway.....
Also, for good fishing, I travel on past and go west into Spruce Creek area, on back to US-1 = great fishing ! ! ! ........
Be careful, lots of naked women there, you can lose your soul ! ! ! (J/K) ! ! ! !
Thanks you'll! If I catch anything I'll let you know.
