Green River lake report 6/15 - 6/17

Fished Friday from 8:30 am till 11:00 am finished with a limit. Most were 10" only one was 12 1/2". Spent the rest of the day riding around on the other end of the lake in the Robinson area marking spots. Fished Sat from 7:30am till 2:30pm. Only caught 26. Spent the last 2 1/2 of that time trying to get a limit. Between the winds and the waves i couldn't do it. You would have thought it was Memorial weekend all over again by the number of boaters. Fished Sun 7:00am till 10:30 am. Finshed with 24. Most was 10" but did find a few 13".
Got tired of fighting the wind. Couldn't stay on the spots but i only saw 8 boats this morning. Water temps started about 79 and ended at about 81. Caught most of the fish in 10-14 fow 8-12 deep. Jigs w/minnows and minnows. After the weekend i just had, starting next weekend it is time to start night fishing.

Hopefully others did better than i .

I was out on the water Friday morning. It was tough going early on pulling crankbaits and longlining jigs, I caught several fish in the 7-8 inch range but the bites were very spread out and the fish were not holding where they were on Monday. I switched over to spider rigging minnows about 9am and started connecting with fish 12-14 feet down over a variety of depths as soon as the sun came out. I hooked two nice smallmouths that threw the hooks when they jumped out of the water-man are they a tough fish! Water temp 81 degrees when I left at 12:30. The campground was already full and Lone Valley was getting slammed with toons launching when I left. There were several boats fishing the mouth of Butler Creek when I got down to where I was fishing and there were already 7 boats fishing the big flats. I saw one boat doing well by Buffalo Gap and one boat catching several off of a brushpile I helped place on the big flats. Most I talked too weren't doing too well in the early morning-looked like most were longlining jigs. I'm glad you connected with some keepers, it seems like you did better than most of the guys I spoke to on the water over the weekend.

I know what you mean on the smallmouth. I caught one Friday morning and it took me a while to get it in. I took a pic of it with my phone, if i get a chance i may try and post it. It was 18 1/4" long maybe 1 1/2-2 lbs guessing.

Good report. Leave out Wed night and will be on the water Thursday morning. What is the limit there? 25 a man here and all I want to clean is 15.

30/person and 60/posession limit, 9" minimum

I'll be on the water sometime mid-day on friday and into sat morning

Prepare for the HEAT !
Bring plenty of water and sunscreen !
If you use live minnows do what I do and keep a cooler with frozen milk jugs in the boat. Keep the minnow bucket in the cooler and just take a few out at a time and put them in a separate minnow bucket.

Caught a limit today (6/18) in about four hours me and my 6 year old son spider rigging minnnows in 25 fow about 9-12 feet deep. I call 30 a limit when fishing with MY 6 year old son. Fun none the less. We just let the wind carry us and when a rod moved someone grabbed it, since I was on the trolling motor....

I am thinking of coming down Friday afternoon and fishing the evening into the night to test out my new light. Could not find my old aquastar lights. I put them in a box in the garage to keep them from getting damaged, the only problem is there is about 40+ boxes of christmas decorations and can't find which box it is banghead. But my grandkids got me a new one From Bob at Reel Lites for fathers day. I'm thinking of testing it Friday night for the Tourney Saturday night.
