Green River lake in July, help??

I am going down to Green sometime in July to some berry picking and crappie fishing. Can someone point me where I can get some crappie, or tell me what areas to look for, depth of water, fish how deep, what setup to use? i will be taking my 2 aunts, both are older women mid 60-mid 70 yrs old. They both love to crappie fish and neither have gone since my mother passed in 2007. Also where is a good place to buy minnows close to lake? Any info appreciated.

Where will you be launching from?

I am guessing Holmes Bend? Not sure where the other ramps are. Fill me in on other ramps close to good fishing.

Coming in at Holmes Bend, then you can get bait at Green River Bait & Grocery. Kenneth makes a mean sausage busicut too. You can get bait at the marina as well. With it being July then the flat will be ready.
You can spider, troll or pull/push cranks. Which ever you are best suited for. That flats range in dept from 5-35ft. I'd say by then 18-30 fow at about 8-18 ft deep. Just remember that Green has a thermo line at about 20 ft. Good luck

What kind of cranks do you pull? Might have to resort to trolling with the older ladies?

Out of Holmes Bends, turn left toward the dam. Youll see the armada of 30 or so boats on the big flat. In July the fish should be open to just about any method you would like to try from single poling with a live minnnow to spider rigging minnows/jigs or pulling crankbaits/jigs. Longlining can be a pain the butt when you have that many boats in a small area, many of whom are less than courteous. I've caught them on any type of crankbait so long as it dives to the 12-16' range during that time of the year.

Depending on how much weight you use. I will sometimes use up to 2 oz weight with the Bandit 300 or use 1-1 1/2 oz weight with the 400. The 300's will run 8-12' deep and the 400's will run 12-16' deep. But i am no pro at cranking.
