It will. A heavier deep V boat sitting low in the water wont loose as much speed as a shallow, top floating skiff waiting on the trolling motor to adjust after turning into the wind. It really depends on the kind of boat you have.....but the tm does make the adjustment in speed when the cruise control is set.

Yes, and you can speed up or slow down with the up down buttons
