I read a thread about night fishing for crappie in the main forum. Has anyone done any night fishing on central AR lakes? Success? Since the heat is already getting to me I was considering giving it a try. Any advice?

Swamper I like to be at the boat ramp as the sun just gets that blue tent at 5:30AM and i fish till about 12-2PM. I gave up night fishing a few years back. Shhhh dont tell anybody but the shade of the big bridges can be great when the sun heats up on Dardanelle. wink wink
And I have heard tell that them ropes hanging down from the bridges arnt just for XMAS ornaments at night. If ya know what I mean. Just Saying LOL
I hear folks use 12 volt lights for fishing around. I have never done much night fishing with a pole, except for Bass. We even do our Catfishing in the daytime on baited holes here.
I fish lake Norfork at night often and do very well. I tie up along a bluff bank, back out and anchor in about forty feet. I catch crapoie, white bass, wal eye and cat. I catch plenty of shad which is a nature bate. Itis lots of fun.

We tie up on the bank, back out and drop an anchor. Then put a submersible light out, with a gill net (6x10) to catch the shad for bait. Its a blast, but it gets slow usually from 2 am-4 am, then picks back up just as the sun is coming up, so try to stick around, its usually worth it. Try to find a deep creek, with a bluff in a bend and set up there. Usually works better.
I have fished Conway around the brige and creek channel with a light and did ok. Had a friend used to fish nimrod and put a light on an inner tube float it over brush pile and fish with miners and did real well.
