I bought some pearl tinsel thinking it was going to be something like flash. when i got it in my hands i was a little befuddled. The pearl tinsel comes on a spool like the tying thread. Can I still use it like flash and tie it into the tail or is it's use more towards using it like thread?
The problem you will run into is with it being on a spool after a bit you will get to the point it's really curled and hard to straighten out. You can use it and the first part will be pretty good, but it's probably better used to wrap a hook shank like a fly and tie over it. You may have better luck than I did as I had the silver and gold stuff like that about 5 or 6 years ago and I quit using it. Still have some, but will not bother to use it for flash. That is just my take and maybe someone else has a better idea. I just didn't want to mess with it.

ive used it but its hard!
Used it like Skip says to wrap hook shanks with on streamer flies.
I found some tinsel at the dollar for Christmas trees, one gold and one silver for .50 each. Lifetime supply and worth waiting til the season. Crystal flash works good but it's pretty rigid, polar flash flows well but isn't as durable. Flashabou is good stuff and worth trying. Angel hair is real fine and has good color and flows well but it's so fine it isn't very durable.
I use Flashabou mostly as I love the fire in the Holo stuff!
However i have a lot of other kinds as well, to many to name all!
