Ok I gotta ask

Why is everyone mounting transducers on their Terrova's instead of using the built in one. I just bought a terrova and plan to connect my HB581i to it. Is there a reason I should not do this ??? You r thoughts please.

Wont work with the DI and SI units, i bought a plain Terrova and added the ipilot seperate to save a few bucks knowing my 858DI wouldnt work or at least the DI wouldnt.

Built in TD is 2D sonar only.

Thanks all for sharing So my HB 581 I I think is 2 d only so it should work ok. I have a 597ci HD di at the console so really wanted to move my 581 up front

You will need an adapter (added cost of about $30) in order to hook to the built-in US2. Go here to select from the adapter models for the various brands of finders.

i ahve the 570 on mhy terrova and it works great using the universal sonar

yep I have the 570 up from as well--on a PDv2 and the ducer in the head works wonderfully. Just remember if you ever DO get a unit with SI or DI DO NOT hook it to the built in ducer on the TM--it can damage the unit.

Got my cable today amd plan on moving the 581i up fron this weekend will let you know how I come out
