Trouble loading update to Sd Card Humminbird 798

I am having trouble loading this update to a sd card .When I try it keeps saying right protected. Do I need a card reader?? Confused here:confused:

Move the slide switch (write protect) on the sd card to other position.

Cane Pole, I tried what u said and it still tells me to remove write protection or use another card.I am using a SanDisk 4 g

??? Maybe try FULLY reformatting the memory card???
Are you using an SDHC compatible card reader?

???Try sending an image or any unrelated file or something to the sd. See if it is working. What Gregg said.

Thanks for the help guys my card reader was not compatible went to wal-mart picked up a new one and all worked out 5.8 update is done.This simple download sure had me confused lol.

they are NEVER simple. I hear all the time how "simple" they are. I have NEVER successfully downloaded ANYTHING "simply". Including humminbird stuff.

I had my son help on the download to the card. It only took a minute for him. He is teaching his computer teacher at high school when she has a problem showing them something on the computer during class. he is a whiz on the stuff. He built his own computer. I know Jack. I took the card and down loaded it on to the unit myself. That was easy.CF
