I'm wanting to upgrade my little 10fter with sonar. I'm not technologically inclined and do good to turn one on and read the depth at the moment. I'm wondering what options though I have for the transducer. The boat is through in the back of the truck and occasionally drug so I'm worried about destroying a traditional one.
You could make you a clamp on pole to hold it.Kinda like a TM mount.:dono
cabelas & bps have those temporary xducer mounts that clamp onto the side of the boat,
I mounted one i had on a piece of oak long enough to hang down even with bottom of boat and c clamped it to transom. Easy to remove so you can throw boat in truck. Worked very well for me.

You guys think I'd be better off with just getting one of those hummingbird clamp on fishin buddies or whatever theyre called?

If it were mine I would mount it on a dead trolling motor with most of the guts removed. Less $ and more versatile. If you had a second TD it could be mounted sideways and switched between the two and have a side image that works pretty good too. Just food for thought.
X2. I did the same thing. Couldn't be simpler. Just mount the transducer to the bottom of the board and clamp to boat. Course if you using a trolling motor, you can get a big radiator clamp and rig up a mount on the motor, or buy a mount for it, they make'em.Quote:

I think I have a spare TM bracket somewhere from an old minnkota I junked out. I think I have a dowel rod about the size of a TM shaft so I guess I'll give that a try. Now I just gotta figure out what kinda cheapo unit to buy.
