when you put in at the pumping station, how long does it take you to get to that chute into paradise? my boat is a 16 ft. weldcraft mod V hull w/ a 25 hp yamaha 4 stroke outboard. I can go about 20 mph wide open, & just looking at the distance, it appears it might take about 10 min. tops to get there from the pumping station. what'd'ya think?
Its almost 5 miles to the chute so it will take you about 15 min. to get to it, then less than 10 min. to get into the lake. Good luck fishing there, it should be good.Quote:

HawgPharm, we didn't do any good nobody we talked to did anything. I couldn't even get a bream to bite a cricket. But thats the way Paradise is, you just have to be there when it's right. luck2ya.
I got back last week from there. Interesting story. I missed the chute going in from the pumping station, wound up all the way out in the miss. river. Ha! anyway, found it coming back in. fished the willows on S end of the lake, and went to the north end by the dam & fished. No bites of any kind! all i saw were gar & jumpin' carp! anyway, river level was about 14-15 ft & falling @ ar. city. that creek had a pretty decent current fallin' out of paradise, also. I talked to a local, and his advice was 1st., you have to fish it all of the time, and it has to be stable, with no fall/rise or very, very little. He claims it's a real tempermental, funny lake. Real driven by the river levels.he also said that when it's comin in, go to the north end of the lake, and when it's fallin, fish the south end of the lake. we passed several boats on the way in that day, & they weren't doin real well either. when we left, no boats in the creek, so i know they weren't doing real well. The gentleman also told me that when the river is @ 21 ft in Ar. city, it's a good time to get on the north end by the dam.
As far as lake chicot goes, we did a lot of trotlining out there on the north end near the state park. we had 250 hooks in the water on trotlines, & cleaned over 200 cats for the 4 days of fishing. wind blew real, REAL hard 1st 2 days, and then calmed down. used shad from the morning runs, caught them at the state park launching ramp. the run time was around 6am every day. We also camped next to a gent from La., who caught a bunch in the lily pads on the north end on crickets. Lots of cats with eggs still left in them. Crappie fishing was real, real slow. Same with Bass. had a great time, good fellowship with my family.
