Any help with tville lake? I know the winds are up but just wondering were the crappie are at. I have heard a few people are catching there limit around 4-8 foot. Just wondering if there back in the creek s!tick ups or on the points? Any help would be great
I did catch around 8 keepers and only 2 throw backs, but not the kind of day I was hoping for. If anyone can give any pointers about tville I would appreciate it. Thanks and good fishing! The one in the pic is a 13 inch black, nice black crappie!

Not bad, really !! Considering the limit is 15 ... and you caught 8.
Nice to see the Blacks are getting some serious size to them. Word is that Black Crappie have become the dominant population. I've also heard that Taylorsville is being stocked with White Crappie.
I'll add this little "tip" to what I told you in the PM : You see that downed tree behind you, in your pic .... fish it !! Specifically, fish it when the shade is on the water over it ... from now on through the rest of the Summer. Get straight out from it, past the submerged top of the tree, and cast jigs over the length of it. If the fish are there & suspended above it, over the middle to deep end ... they're active & in a feeding mode, so you should get plenty of "thumps". If they're deep & down in the branches ... they're in a negative mood, and you may need to try "Vertical Casting" or vertical jigging. I suggest using weedless jigheads.
Don't feel too bad about your 8 keepers (w/a 13" Black kicker) ... I've fished the lake since it was opened, and the best Crappie stringer I ever had was a limit of 15, that weighed a total of 10lbs (3/4lb average). And that was many years ago. I pretty much quit going there about 12yrs ago, with the exception of a couple few trips, simply because the Crappie seemed to be getting scarce and staying on the small side. It's good to see that the lake is producing some nice fish, again. Another hopeful thing ... is that your 13" Black looks to be a female w/eggs. That being the case, and considering that Blacks generally spawn before the Whites ... you may well still have a couple of weeks of spawn left.
While my 15fish/10lb trip did occur in early to mid April .... most of the time, when fishing the spawn at Taylorsville, it was during the first couple of weeks of May when I had my better trips.

Thanks crappiepappy, we actually did try the tree that was downed a little but after what your saying it makes since to cast over it and also drop down on it. It was actually me and my dad out that day so we were about 22 shy of our limit (15 per person or 30 per boat last I checked) so not so great, but the black crappie was indeed a female full of eggs but wasn't even bloated to much just a bump on the belly. Hopefully tville is getting back on track, I can remember 6-8 years ago me and my dad could go out and have our limit of white crappie in just 2 hours or so. I actually haven't caught my first white this year so it definitely needs some help. I haven't heard of anyone catching any crappie on the banks so I'm hoping they'll move in soon. When I go back i'll post back to let everyone know how it goes!
